Happy Independence Day

The one and only thing that hasn't gone well today? I didn't get to make the flag cookies I was excited to do this morning. :( What can I say? Sweets are my weak point!

Anyways, I'm headed to a party in about an hour, so I thought I would just start write an entry right now.

I did my nails yesterday, with a very patriotic theme, of course. Unfortunately,  I literally just messed up my left thumb nail. After noticing that the bottom most jewel had fallen off, I went to put a new one on and dab a bit of paint on the tips. Top coat went on and then it was time to change...and I forgot. Now I'm again missing a jewel, since it fell off sometime during the change, and the polish is a bit "wrinkled" on the tip. :( #firstworldprobs

And my outfit for this special day:

My top is from Burlington Coat Factory, and yes, the quality is not the best, but to be honest, I'd much rather wear something decent for a bargain than silk cloths for $100.

I think that it's gorgeous. The only downside of it is the back. I didn't take a snap of it, but it's like those suit jackets that are a regular length in the front, and then suddenly dips in the back. I fixed this simply by tucking it in and adding a silver belt, perfect for today.

                                                       BEST BACK SHOT EVER.

My shorts also happen to be from Burlington Coat Factory (I promise that I don't just shop at discount stores!).

Just about ready to leave now after doing mom's toenails Americana style. ;)

July First, Two Thousand Fourteen

Yesterday afternoon I went shopping with my mom and her friend. We first went to Sephora for my mom's friend to get color matched. This took about half an hour and all I did was just walk around the store, occasionally telling my mom's friend my opinion on the next foundation or tinted moisturizer that she tried. She ended up not getting anything, always wanting more and more coverage while at the same time feeling very light. The artist even used the Bare Minerals Bare Skin foundation, which I heard had great coverage and seemed pretty light. For her? It was horrible, apparently.

Because they felt bad that I was bored for that long, we finally got to go shop. We headed into TJMaxx first and I found a cotton t shirt of my brother and father's favorite basketball team.

It has a kind of rounded V neck and is super soft and comfy; perfect for lounging around the house. I was surprised that mom let me get it, since a plain graphic T shirt that she didn't like for $10 wasn't something she usually agreed to.

Our next stop was at Ross where mother's mood still was high. Every clothing piece that I picked up, she told me to just hold on to it instead of telling me what she thought of it like normal.

I ended up just taking four things to the dressing room, though there were a few tanks that I was in love with. The guilt of making my mom pay for the things that I already had was gnawing at me.

There were two things that I ended up not getting, but I was fine with it. One of the things that I got was something that I have always wanted, but was afraid that I couldn't pull it off.

It's a chiffon layered tank top that you see just about everywhere now. They are usually cropped, and this one actually is, but I got a size up because this was the only one left in this beautiful bright coral color. The bigger size has a pro and a con, though. Pro: it hides the reason why I can't wear cropped shirts without something covering my belly (i.e. high waisted bottoms). I have a milk chocolate colored birthmark about the size of three quarters placed in a line that isn't the mos attractive thing. Therefore, I can't even wear a bikini, unfortunately. Con: it's very loose. In the above picture, I've actually tied the back with a clear elastic like people do with oversized T shirts. The picture really do not bring out the amazing color.

The final item that I got is the gorgeous flowy, floral chiffon top that I'm wearing in my banner photo.

It's very flowy and perfect for summer. It is very thin and completely see through, so if I were to wear this out, I would absolutely wear a camisole underneath. If I were able to wear a bikini, this would be an adorable cover-up.

One of my favorite parts of this shirt is that the front and back are shorter than the sides. Kind of like a reversed high and low. The sleeves are long and slowly get bigger as it goes down my arm, kind of like a bell.

After that, we headed home, dropped our things off and mom and I did a quick grocery stop.
